Upper Brown Hill Creek Area

The Everard Park works are identified in the Stormwater Management Plan as portion of Area 1 in upper Brown Hill Creek. The section of creek extends from Anzac Highway, Everard Park at the downstream end to Third Avenue, Forestville at the upstream end. The works involved replacement of an existing open concrete channel with an increased capacity underground covered culvert. Installation of the culvert below ground level provides an opportunity for the City of Unley to extend Wilberforce Walk to Anzac Highway, with a shared use path for pedestrians and cyclists traversing the culvert.

Construction commenced on site in April 2020 and culvert installation works were completed in August 2020. The site has now been handed over to City of Unley and works to develop the shared use path are underway.

Project Delivery

The existing concrete channel was of insufficient capacity and in poor condition.

Channel excavation works involved removing the existing open concrete channel and widening the corridor.

Kaurna representatives provided cultural induction training and monitors were engaged to oversee excavation works.

Culvert segments were supplied by Humes and installation commenced at the upstream end (Third Avenue) and progressed toward Anzac Highway.

Works at the downstream end (Anzac Highway) completed the culvert installation and the transition from the new culvert to the existing structure beneath Anzac Highway.

Subsequent to new fencing being constructed along the southern boundary, the site was handed over to City of Unley for completion of the shared use path works.
