The five councils involved in the Brownhill Keswick Creek Stormwater Project are about to be asked for their final endorsement of the updated stormwater management plan, which remains on track to be formally lodged with the Stormwater Management Authority (SMA) by the end of August.
The final review of the plan this month follows councils’ approval in May of a strategy which will see the commencement of the bulk of proposed flood mitigation works throughout the region.
These proposed works include the construction of detention basins, creek diversions and channel upgrades across the catchment.
The councils – Adelaide, Burnside, Mitcham, Unley and West Torrens – have also committed to further investigation of alternative options to the proposed flood control dam in Brownhill Creek Recreation Park while other flood mitigation works in the catchment get underway. This review of feasible options to the proposed dam will be completed next year and will include further community consultation concerning outcomes of the review.

“The stormwater management plan is currently with the five councils for their final endorsement before we officially lodge it with the Stormwater Management Authority, which we anticipate will occur by the end of the month as planned,” said Michael Salkeld, Project Director of the Brownhill Keswick Creek Stormwater Project.
